Nuapada (Odishri Sambad): In a major crackdown on alleged corruption, Odisha Vigilance has arrested Babulu Suna, Senior Assistant-cum-In-Charge of the Establishment Section at the Office of the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Sunabeda Wildlife Division, Nuapada, for allegedly misappropriating government funds worth over ₹2.60 crore since 2023.

According to Odisha Vigilance, Suna had allegedly been absconding for the past six months before being apprehended in Balangir last night. He is being forwarded to the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna.

During the investigation, vigilance officials allegedly found that Suna had used his position in the Establishment Section to prepare fraudulent arrear bills under the Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) and Revised Assured Career Progression (RACP) schemes.

The investigation reportedly revealed that the identities and credentials of former, retired and deceased employees of the Sunabeda Wildlife Division were allegedly used to process fake bills. The funds were allegedly transferred to the bank accounts of his family members, including his wife, brother and sister, as well as two close associates.
